Gujarati IPTV Channels for Global Communities
Gujarati communities have long been spread across continents—from North America and the UK to East Africa and the Middle East—yet their connection to home remains remarkably strong.
With RisePrimeTV, accessing Gujarati TV channels abroad becomes simple and consistent. Instead of depending on limited local options, viewers can stream their preferred Gujarati content seamlessly, ensuring they stay connected to Gujarat’s media landscape regardless of where they live.
Gujarati Cultural Shows, Theatre & Local Entertainment
Unlike mainstream entertainment formats, Gujarati content has a distinct identity shaped by theatre-style storytelling and community-driven performances. From Natak-inspired shows to humor-filled family programs, the focus is often on relatable narratives and cultural expression.
Through RisePrimeTV, viewers can explore this unique side of Gujarati entertainment, including cultural programs and regional showcases that go beyond typical TV formats. It creates an experience that feels authentic rather than generic, especially for audiences who value traditional storytelling.
Gujarati IPTV channels — watch live Gujarati TV from Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot in the USA, UK and Canada
Twenty Gujarati channels on RisePrime TV across entertainment, news and devotional programming — four in entertainment and cinema, eleven in news and business, five devotional, counting DD Girnar's SD and HD feeds as the two channels they are carried as — plus the seventeen Vande Gujarat learning channels, the Gujarati audio feeds on the kids channels, and the Hindi and sport tier that every Gujarati household abroad ends up watching alongside them. Gujarati television is built differently from Tamil or Telugu: one general entertainment channel, one film channel, and the deepest news market of any Indian regional language. The five tabs below cover each tier honestly, including where Gujarati stops and Hindi takes over. Every channel streams live to Firestick, Smart TV, Android, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and any browser.
Gujarati entertainment and movie channels
This tier is small on purpose, and knowing why is the difference between a package that satisfies a Gujarati household and one that disappoints it. Gujarat has exactly one private general entertainment channel and exactly one Gujarati film channel, both from the same broadcaster, alongside Doordarshan's state service in standard and high definition. What that short list carries, though, is the whole of Gujarati television's own output — daily serials, the natak and comedy formats that come straight off the Gujarati stage, the reality and cookery strands, satellite premieres of Gujarati films, and nine consecutive nights of live garba every Navratri. Watch Gujarati serials online live from Ahmedabad, or on catch-up when the broadcast hour falls in the middle of a working day abroad.
The only private Gujarati general entertainment channel on television. On air since 2002 as ETV Gujarati and rebranded to Colors in April 2015, it is now part of JioStar. Daily serials, comedy and natak formats drawn from Gujarati theatre, cookery and reality strands, Gujarati film premieres, and the live Navratri garba broadcast that clears its schedule for nine nights every autumn.
Launched on 1 June 2019 and still the first and only dedicated Gujarati movie channel. It arrived at the right moment: Gujarati cinema grew 189% in a single year on Ormax's count — from ₹84 crore at the box office in 2024 to ₹242 crore in 2025 — so the satellite library it draws on is filling faster than any other regional film catalogue in India.
Doordarshan's Gujarati service, broadcasting from Thaltej in Ahmedabad and reaching 93.8% of Gujarat's land area. Rural affairs, agriculture, classical and folk performance, school programming and state coverage that the commercial channel stopped scheduling years ago.
Launched on 11 July 2025 as the first high-definition channel in the Gujarati language anywhere. It matters more than a second feed normally would, because it is currently the only way to watch Gujarati programming in HD on a large television.
Why the Gujarati channel list is shorter than you expect
Gujarat is one of India's largest economies, and Gujarati is spoken by around 60 million people, but it has never had the channel count that goes with either. The reason is straightforward: Gujarati households watch a great deal of Hindi television, and BARC's weekly Gujarat top five is almost always made up of Hindi channels. Broadcasters read those numbers and stayed away. Zee Gujarati, the first Gujarati general entertainment channel, closed on 31 May 2009 and was never revived. Star never entered the market. NDTV held a licence for a Gujarati news channel and handed it back in July 2025 without launching. Only Viacom18 — now JioStar — committed to Gujarati non-news channels, which is why the same brand appears twice at the top of this tab.
Any page that promises you a long list of Gujarati entertainment channels is either counting news channels as entertainment or listing channels that no longer broadcast. We would rather show you the real tier, then show you exactly what fills the gaps — which is what the Kids & Learning and Hindi & Sport tabs are for.
Navratri: nine nights of live garba from about 10:00 PM in Gujarat
Navratri is the one week of the year when Gujarati television beats every Hindi channel in Gujarat, and it is the single strongest reason a household abroad subscribes. The grounds fill late, so the live broadcast runs into the small hours in India — which lands as an early evening watch in Leicester and London, and over lunch in Edison and Toronto. Because Navratri always falls in September or October, these conversions are given on British Summer Time and North American daylight time rather than winter time.
Frequently asked questions
Can I watch Colors Gujarati live outside India?
Yes. Colors Gujarati streams live through RisePrime TV to the USA, UK and Canada on Firestick, Smart TV, Android, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and in any browser. It is the channel almost every Gujarati household checks for first, which is why it sits at the top of the opening tab rather than inside a long list, and it is carried alongside Colors Gujarati Cinema so the serials and the film premieres come together.
How many Gujarati channels does RisePrime TV carry?
Twenty Gujarati channels: four in entertainment and cinema, eleven in news and business, and five devotional. Nineteen distinct services, strictly speaking — DD Girnar is carried as two channels, the standard feed and the HD one, because that is how it is broadcast and how you will find it in the guide. On top of those come the seventeen Vande Gujarat learning channels and the Gujarati audio feeds on the kids channels, both in the Kids & Learning tab, and the Hindi and sport channels in the final tab. Live channels are backed by catch-up, so a serial that airs in the Gujarat evening can be watched at a reasonable hour in Chicago or Toronto.
Are Gujarati channels available in HD?
Partly, and Gujarati is behind the other major Indian languages here. DD Girnar HD, launched on 11 July 2025, was the first high-definition channel in the language and remains the main one. The commercial Gujarati channels — Colors Gujarati, the news tier — have historically been produced and transmitted in standard definition, with no HD feed announced at the broadcaster. Where a broadcaster does not make an HD feed, no platform can create one, so any service advertising the whole Gujarati lineup in HD or 4K is describing its own upscaling rather than the source. The Hindi channels in the last tab are a different matter: those carry genuine HD feeds.
Which Gujarati news channels are included?
Eleven, and Gujarati news is the deepest tier in the language — more Gujarati news channels exist than Gujarati channels of every other kind put together. The lineup covers the national networks with Gujarat newsrooms (TV9 Gujarati, ABP Asmita, Zee 24 Kalak, News18 Gujarati, India News Gujarat), the channels run by the big Gujarati newspaper houses (Sandesh News, GSTV from Gujarat Samachar), the independent Gujarat broadcasters (VTV News, Gujarat First 24x7, Mantavya News), and CNBC Bajar, the Gujarati business news channel — no other Indian language outside Hindi and English sustains one.
Can I watch live Navratri garba on Gujarati TV?
Yes — this is the biggest live event on the Gujarati calendar. Colors Gujarati gives over its schedule for the nine nights of Navratri and broadcasts garba live from the grounds in Gujarat, with the singers who define the season. The grounds get going late in India, so the broadcast reaches UK households in the early evening and North American households around the middle of the day. See the timings above.
Is there a Gujarati channel for children?
There is no dedicated Gujarati kids channel on television today. ETV Bal Bharat ran a Gujarati feed from April 2021 and closed it in early 2023, and nothing replaced it. What does exist is a Gujarati audio track on the mainstream children's channels — Nickelodeon and Sonic added Gujarati in January 2020 — so the same animation your children watch in English can be switched into Gujarati. Alongside that sit the seventeen Vande Gujarat channels, the Gujarat state education service, which teach the school curriculum in Gujarati. Both are in the Kids & Learning tab.
Can I watch cricket with Gujarati commentary?
Not on a television channel. The Star Sports network carries the IPL and Indian cricket in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada — Gujarati has never had its own sports channel. A Gujarati commentary feed does exist, but only on digital: Gujarati has been among the IPL language options on the JioCinema platform since 2023, now folded into JioHotstar. On the television side you watch the same matches on the English or Hindi feeds carried in the Hindi & Sport tab, which is also where Gujarat Titans and Gujarat Giants fixtures land. Broadcast rights move between networks from season to season, so the current programme guide is always the reliable source.
Can I watch Gujarati channels on Firestick, Smart TV or my phone?
Yes — every channel on this page streams to Firestick, Smart TV, Android, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and any browser, so a household can have the serials on in the living room and a news channel in another room without a second subscription.
Who actually owns Gujarati television
Gujarati is unusual: one broadcaster holds the entire entertainment tier while the news tier is split between more owners than any other Indian language sustains. Knowing which group a channel belongs to explains most of what you see in the tabs above.

Gujarati has one of the largest Indian-language communities in the United States — 434,000 speakers on the 2017 American Community Survey count, up 22% over the seven years before it, second only to Hindi at that point. Britain has one of the oldest Gujarati communities outside India, with around 213,000 people giving Gujarati as their main language at the 2021 census and many times that number in Gujarati families. In Canada, 92,000 households speak it at home. RisePrime TV's Gujarati package is built for those cities.
Gujarati news channels live
News is what Gujarati television is actually built on. Where Tamil or Telugu spread across entertainment, film, music and comedy, Gujarat put nearly all of its broadcasting into newsrooms — there are more Gujarati news channels than Gujarati channels of every other genre combined, and the state is the only one in India with a business news channel in its own language. The eleven here are grouped by who runs them, because in Gujarat that is the most useful thing to know: a channel owned by Gujarat Samachar reports differently from one run out of a national network's Delhi headquarters. Watch Gujarati news live from Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Surat, with the district reporting that national bulletins never carry.
National networks with Gujarat newsrooms
The first 24-hour Gujarati news channel, on air from Ahmedabad since 2007 and still the reference point for Gujarati breaking news. Aggressive live reporting and a bureau network that gets to a story first, which is why it has held the largest share of Gujarati news viewing for most of the past decade.
ABP Network's Gujarati channel, launched on 1 January 2016 and run from Ahmedabad. A steadier studio format than the tier average — scheduled bulletins, long interviews and the conclave programming that brings Gujarat's business and political figures on air.
Zee Media's Gujarati news channel, launched in August 2017 — round-the-clock state coverage backed by the network's national newsroom, with the same bulletin structure Zee runs in every other language.
Launched by Network18 in 2014 as ETV News Gujarati and rebranded to News18 in 2018. The one Gujarati newsroom with a business channel beside it, in CNBC Bajar, which the same network runs.
ITV Network's Gujarati channel, on air since December 2017. State politics and civic reporting alongside the national stories the network's Hindi and English channels are covering the same day.
Gujarati newspaper houses
The broadcast arm of Sandesh, one of the two great Gujarati dailies, on air since 2013. District reporting that runs off the newspaper's own edition network, which is why it carries stories from towns the national channels have never sent a crew to.
Gujarat Samachar's television channel, launched in 2012 — the other half of the newspaper rivalry that has defined Gujarati journalism for a century. Statewide bulletins with the paper's reporting bench behind them.
Independent Gujarat broadcasters
The oldest of the independent Gujarati newsrooms, broadcasting since 2011 and owned in the state rather than by a national group. Heavy on live reporting and civic coverage across Ahmedabad and the larger cities.
Launched in February 2022 and the newest full-scale Gujarati newsroom, which shows in the format — shorter bulletins, more explainer segments and a lighter studio-debate schedule than the channels that came before it.
On satellite since 2016 and carried by the DTH platforms from 2021 onwards. A Gujarat-owned newsroom with a strong regional bulletin schedule outside the Ahmedabad–Vadodara corridor.
Business
A full business news channel in Gujarati — markets, commodities and company news in the language — launched by Network18 in July 2014, and the only one of its kind in any Indian language outside Hindi and English. It exists because Gujarat's trading and small-business base is large enough to sustain one, which is not true of any other state's regional market.
One state, five regions — where the reporting comes from bulletins are regionalised
The peninsula, and the origin of a very large share of the Gujarati diaspora in Britain and East Africa. Farm prices, water, cooperative politics and Kathiawadi affairs get bulletin time here that they never get on a national channel.
India's largest district, with its own language, its own economy around the ports and salt pans, and its own diaspora. Kutchi stories are reported separately by most Gujarati desks rather than folded into Saurashtra.
Dairy, groundwater and the Banaskantha–Sabarkantha belt. This is where agricultural reporting and cooperative-sector news lands, and where the district bureaus of the newspaper-owned channels are strongest.
Where every Gujarati channel has its studio and where state politics is decided. Expect the assembly, the High Court, Ahmedabad civic affairs and the Gandhinagar policy beat to dominate the main evening bulletins.
Diamonds, textiles and the chemical belt — the business stories that give CNBC Bajar its audience. Surat also has the largest internal-migrant population in the state, which shapes how the local bulletins are written.
Most Gujarati news channels regionalise part of their schedule rather than running one statewide feed all day, so which desk a channel is strongest in genuinely changes what you see. Households abroad usually keep two or three of these channels on rotation: one national network for the headline story, one newspaper-owned channel for the district it came from.
Gujarati devotional and satsang channels
For a great many Gujarati households abroad this is the tier that keeps the subscription through the year rather than through a season, and it is larger than the entertainment tier. Gujarati devotional broadcasting is not one tradition but several running side by side: the Swaminarayan sampradays, whose temples abroad are often the centre of Gujarati community life; Vaishnav and Pushtimarg households oriented towards Dwarka and Nathdwara; the Shakti temples of Ambaji and Pavagadh; and the Jain community, which is proportionally larger in Gujarat than anywhere else in India. The formats have their own vocabulary too — katha and pravachan for discourse, bhajan and kirtan for music, live aarti from the temples, and dayro, the Saurashtra folk-devotional night that exists in no other Indian language.
Gujarati spiritual channels
The best known of the Gujarati spiritual channels and the anchor of a three-channel group. Katha and pravachan from the sants and kathakars a Gujarati audience actually follows, bhajan and kirtan through the day, dayro, and live outside broadcasts from temple festivals and community events across the state.
Sister channel to Lakshya, running a second discourse schedule so a full katha series and a live event never have to compete for the same slot. Useful in practice: a seven-day Bhagwat Saptah can run end to end on one channel while the other keeps its regular programming.
The third channel in the same Gujarati spiritual group, weighted towards social and cultural programming alongside the devotional schedule — community events, seva initiatives and the cultural strands that sit between satsang and general entertainment.
The Gujarati service of Aastha, one of India's oldest Hindu channels, launched in 2023 and carried on DD Free Dish and Tata Play. Live aarti, Vedic and scriptural programming and festival coverage, produced to the network standard rather than as a regional afterthought.
A round-the-clock Gujarati channel devoted entirely to the Swaminarayan sampraday — live aartis, Vachanamrut readings, katha and the temple celebrations that anchor the calendar. For diaspora households built around a Swaminarayan mandir, this is the single most-requested channel on the page.
The circuit these channels go live from
The first of the twelve jyotirlingas and the temple Gujarat rebuilt after independence. Evening aarti and the Kartik Purnima and Mahashivratri broadcasts are the ones households abroad plan around.
Krishna's city, and the anchor of the Vaishnav calendar. The flag-raising above the shrine and the Janmashtami programming draw the largest devotional audiences of the year outside Navratri.
One of the Shakti Peeths and the destination of the Bhadarvi Poonam walk, when hundreds of thousands of people make the journey on foot. The channels cover it as a live event over several days.
Ranchhodrai's temple, and the Purnima pilgrimage that fills the road from Ahmedabad every full moon. A monthly fixture in the devotional schedule rather than an annual one.
The Mahakali shrine on the hill above Champaner, reopened with a new spire in 2022. Navratri here runs alongside the garba coverage on the entertainment tier.
Outside Gujarat but central to Pushtimarg households, who are overwhelmingly Gujarati. The daily darshan sequence at Shrinathji is followed as closely abroad as any temple inside the state.
Devotional schedules follow the Hindu calendar, not a fixed grid, so festival coverage moves by several weeks from year to year and aarti timings shift with sunrise and sunset. This is the tier where catch-up earns its place: a dawn aarti in Gujarat is the previous evening in North America. Jain broadcasting — Paras TV, Jinvani and the Palitana coverage around Mahavir Jayanti and Paryushan — is a substantial category in its own right, but it broadcasts in Hindi rather than Gujarati, so it sits in the last tab rather than this one.
Gujarati for children — kids feeds and the Vande Gujarat learning channels
The hardest thing about raising children abroad in a Gujarati household is that the language stops being the language of the room. There is no dedicated Gujarati children's channel on television — ETV Bal Bharat ran a Gujarati feed from April 2021 and closed it in early 2023 — but two things do exist, and between them they cover more ground than most parents realise. The mainstream children's channels carry a Gujarati audio track, so the animation your children already watch can simply be switched into Gujarati. And Gujarat runs seventeen free-to-air education channels teaching the state curriculum in Gujarati, which no other Indian state comes close to matching. Nineteen channels in this tab, then: two children's feeds carrying Gujarati audio, and the seventeen Vande Gujarat channels named below.
Children's channels with a Gujarati audio feed
Gujarati was added to Nickelodeon's language options in January 2020, alongside Bengali, Marathi and Malayalam, taking the channel to eight Indian languages. The programming is the international catalogue your children already know, dubbed — which is exactly why it works as a way of keeping Gujarati in daily use at home.
The action-and-adventure side of the same expansion, pitched at slightly older children than Nickelodeon. Gujarati audio was added at the same time in January 2020.
Vande Gujarat — the state's own learning channels 17 channels, free-to-air
Gujarat launched sixteen education channels in October 2015 and added a seventeenth in 2019 — VANDE stands for Video Audio Network for Development and Education. They are produced by the state's BISAG-N centre in Gandhinagar and broadcast free-to-air, and they teach the Gujarat school curriculum in Gujarati. Several Indian states run one education channel. Gujarat runs seventeen, and no other state is close.
For a family in Leicester or Edison this is the closest thing to a Gujarati-medium classroom that exists outside the state. It will not replace a weekend Gujarati school, but it is the one place a child can hear subject teaching — not just cartoons and serials — in Gujarati, and it costs nothing extra inside the package.
The Hindi and sport channels Gujarati households watch
Every honest account of Gujarati television has to include this tab. Gujarat is the one large Indian state where the highest-rated channels in the market are almost always in another language: BARC's weekly Gujarat top five is usually all Hindi. That is not a failure of taste, it is what happens when a state has one general entertainment channel of its own and Hindi has a dozen. A Gujarati package that stops at the Gujarati channels leaves the family arguing over which television to use. These eight are the channels a Gujarati household abroad actually turns on alongside Colors Gujarati — and one of them, oddly enough, is built on a Gujarati family.
Hindi general entertainment
The largest Hindi general entertainment channel and, in most weeks, the most watched channel in Gujarat itself. Prime-time serials and the big event formats, in a genuine HD feed rather than an upscale.
The Hindi flagship of the same network that runs Colors Gujarati, which means the reality formats and event programming often run in both languages in the same season. Bigg Boss and the weekend non-fiction block sit here.
The Hindi channel with the strongest Gujarati claim on it. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, on air since 2008, is adapted from Tarak Mehta's Gujarati column Duniya Ne Undha Chashma in Chitralekha, and the Gada family at its centre is Gujarati. It is the channel Gujarati households abroad most often leave on for the children.
Family drama and the talent formats, and the network whose Gujarati channel closed in 2009 — so for a generation of Gujarati viewers the Hindi feed has simply been the Zee channel. A full HD feed is available.
Hindi movies
Hindi satellite premieres and the mainstream library. With only one Gujarati film channel in existence, this is where most of a Gujarati household's film watching actually happens.
The other half of the Hindi film tier — a deeper back catalogue and the repeat-viewing titles that fill a weekend afternoon rather than the new-release slot.
Sport
The main cricket channel, and where Gujarat Titans matches land during the IPL. Television commentary runs in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada — there has never been a Gujarati sports channel, and the Gujarati commentary option exists only on the digital side.
The second sports feed a household needs — football, tennis and the tournaments that sit outside the cricket rights. Between the two channels, most of what a Gujarati household wants to watch live is covered.
YesColors Gujarati, plus DD Girnar
Star Plus, Colors, Sony SAB and Zee TV, which is what the ratings say Gujarat is already watching.
YesColors Gujarati Cinema — the only one
Star Gold and Sony Max carry the Hindi premieres and the library a single Gujarati channel cannot.
YesEleven channels — the deepest tier in the language
Nothing needed. Gujarati news is more thoroughly covered than in most Indian languages.
YesCNBC Bajar, unique to Gujarati
Nothing needed. No other Indian regional language has a business channel at all.
YesFive channels, including a Swaminarayan channel
Jain broadcasting — Paras TV and Jinvani — is in Hindi, and sits alongside the Gujarati tier.
Audio onlyA Gujarati track on Nickelodeon and Sonic; no Gujarati kids channel
The seventeen Vande Gujarat learning channels teach in Gujarati; the Hindi and English kids channels cover the rest.
No channelNo Gujarati music channel has ever launched
Garba, dayro and sugam sangeet run as strands on the entertainment and devotional channels, heavily around Navratri.
No channelNo Gujarati sports channel; Gujarati commentary is digital-only
Star Sports 1 and Sony Sports Ten 1 carry the cricket, including Gujarat Titans, in English and Hindi.
Sports rights move between networks every few seasons, and the Hindi lineup varies by package, so the current programme guide is always the reliable source for both. Full listings are on the Hindi IPTV channels and sports channels pages.
